Rattlesnakes and dogs are a dangerous combination. Here our son documents some of Allie’s experiences with snakes.

Also, please note. Allie was fairly new to us and still skittish about new things when she went through snake avoidance training. The trainer was sensitive to that and only shocked her with the lowest setting. (When he used that setting on the neighbor’s 7 pound chihuahua the dog just shook herself and kept moving to the snake.) None of us promotes using shock collars for normal training. In potentially life and death situations, such as training a dog to stay away from a rattlesnake, extreme measures, such as a shock collar, may be the only way of keeping the dog safe.
